The Didsbury House hotel – Howard and Jill

I know we all complained about the heat in the summer – but I miss it now! HA! So let me take you back to a beautiful summers day, when these two legends got married: Jill and Howard! I knew when I first met them that it was going to be a great day! Straight in from the gym to our meeting, it was clear that Jill loved a challenge, and not only was she planning a wedding but prepping for a New York marathon!! Howard is not shy to adventure either, having proposed to Jill on a surf board!! So the day at the Didsbury House Hotel was always going to be a great one!

The morning begun at their Didsbury home, with no less that their awesome pet featuring as a ring bearer! See the image below!

As the sun shone we arrived at the venue to hear the amazing band The Magpies playing to welcome the guests. This band got the party started at the end of the day too, showing how versatile they are to hire for your wedding day!

The service was actually lead by Howard’s dad, Hedley Paul Spargo, who normally leads weddings in Ibiza. He used a traditional ceremony of the giving cup and tying the knot, which was enjoyed by everyone!

We then found our way to the wonderful Fletcher Moss Gardens for couple shots, which was a great moment to take some time away and for Jill and Howard to actually chat to each other – surprising how on a wedding day you end up talking to everyone else!

Finally, the reception. Incredible food from the Didsbury House Hotel and the speeches – well, you can see from the pics; the team of best men, smashed it!

I hope you enjoy looking at these – do follow me on social media to see more of my work!

Rachel and Aidan

Rachel and Aidan

What a summer it’s been! 2018 will be remember for incredible weather, but for Rachel and Aidan it will be remembered for their incredible wedding day!

Rachel wore a stunning and very elegant dress from Bridal Bliss Bolton which as you can see was the perfect choice for her and set the style for this amazing cheshire wedding. Team bride got ready at the stunning Curlew cottage in Knutsford, complete with hot tub and Lamas! The flowers were all created by Julie from White Room Floral Design and they smelt amazing too! Rachel’s makeup stayed amazing perfect all day (in intense heat) so I can’t recommend Michelle Sission highly enough.

They they made their way to the idilic ceremony venue, Toft church, in a stunning vintage Rolls Royce from P&A wedding cars. Having taken wedding images for the last decade, it still remains an honour to be present at the beautifully emotional moments in someone’s big day. Just before we walked into the church, Rachel had a moment! It is such a big moment in your life, the moments before walking down the isle and it’s important to remember it forever.

After the joyous ceremony we made our way to Cheshire’s newest and beautifully stunning wedding venue, Merrydale Manor.  This venue is run by the Irlam family who also own Colshaw Hall, another sort after venue. As you can see from the images the venue offers space and beauty. Amazingly Rachel and Aidan had hired the amazing ice-cream dub  van to serve all the guests delicious ice-cream. Perfect on this incredibly warm day! The reception was off to a great start, and was guided brilliantly by the Master of Ceremony, Toast Master Chris. The reception venue was dressed amazingly, with stationary on the tables from Occasions by Rebecca  and a stunning cake from the Sugared Thistle  (I mean look at it!!!).

The evening entertainment was delivered by the amazing DJ Ben Malone who had a beautiful dance floor to set the perfect scene for the first dance.

The last image is one of my favourites as it shows what the summer of 2018 has brought, beautiful sunsets! What a way to finish an amazing day! A huge thank you to Rachel and Aidan for hiring me and their family and friends who made me feel so welcomed all day. Wow, what a day! I genuinely wish you Rachel and Aidan the happiest of marriages and a life time of joy together.

Here is Rachel’s kind review of my work after the wedding day and once she’d seen her images, I promise I didn’t bribe her!!

“Lucy was recommended to us as our wedding photographer, and now we totally understand why! From the moment we got in touch with her it was clear she absolutely loved her job and was very personable. Her website was great, especially the videos which helped us know what to expect for our engagement shoot. We were both slightly dreading said shoot as neither of us enjoy being in front of the camera, but it actually ended up being such a fun hour and a half. I’d definitely recommend going with this package for a wedding as it helped us get used to the camera and therefore we were much more relaxed about the ‘posed’ pictures on the day. On the wedding day Lucy arrived nice and early with a list of all the group shots we wanted – an indication of her great organisation skills. During the day she felt like a member of the wedding party! Considering she works alone her calm composure and constantly smiling face is very impressive. All the guests loved her, and the photo booth that was set up in the evening went down a treat. We’ve now received our photos and they are wonderful – there are so many great shots it’s going to be hard to select ones to go in an album. Thank you so much for being the best wedding photographer! x”

Andrea and Mark’s Wedding day

If you need a reminder of sunnier days then look no further! This beautiful sunny day will be forever remembered in the hearts of Andrea, Mark and their friends!

The venue was Redhouse Farm Barn  which is a stunning, bespoke wedding venue, in the West Midlands. Andrea and Mark are an incredible couple and their day was vibrant, fun, full of great emotions and beautiful friendships. I was truly honoured to be apart of their day, so here is a little window into it!

Andrea and Mark’s engagment shoot

Engagement shoots are still thought as ‘an American’ thing…but I love them!!

They give my clients time to settle in front of the camera before their big day. I also get to spend time with them, seeing how they interact with each other and ensuring I capture their ‘best side’. So when Andrea and Mark booked one with me I was so pleased!!

Mark proposed to Andrea on the Clent Hills, so this was the beautiful location for our shoot. Andrea and Mark had watched my video on how to prepare for the shoot (click here to see it!) so they came fully prepared.

The weather was perfect, a slight lazy sun creating a beautiful haze! It did get a little chilly, so a lush blanket came in handy half way through!! It was a great day, I can’t wait for their wedding day in a few weeks time!!

These guys love for each other is so genuine that when I turned my back to take a pic, they were still embracing each other! So awesome!! So here is a grab shot I took, I love the ‘realness’ of it… surrounded by our prop bags, they’re having a moment!!… Don’t forget if you’d like a shoot get in touch: lucy@smithimaging.co.uk or visit www.smithimaging.co.uk for more images

Wedding in the Isle of Wight

This beautiful wedding was shot mid July in the picturesque countryside of the Isle of Wight.

If you’ve never been to the Isle of Wight, can I please just take a minute and tell you why you should go… It is beautiful!! The people are super friendly, and the panoramic views from the coast are breath taking.

I have known Naomi for a few years and she had always said that when she got married she’d love me to be her photographer (honestly, still blushing, what a lovely thing to say!). So when I got a call from her, I was very excited! Naomi is an incredible lady, and she met her man through an internet site! On first meeting she had her phone at the ready to call her best friend, just in case he ‘was a weirdo’! But all was well…he turned out to be a keeper! Rob is from the north of England (Yay as I live in Manchester) and is genuinely so kind and considerate, they are a perfect match!

So you can imagine that I was extra excited, not only that Naomi was getting married, but on such a wonderful island! Naomi’s dress (which is nothing short of stunning, I know you’ll agree) was brought from the illustrious Forget-me-not Designs, vintage lace designs for the modern bride.

The ceremony was at a very civilised time of 3pm at the beautiful rose windowed church, St Mildred’s Church. As the sun shone, Naomi arrived on a horse drawn carriage, a perfect way to take in her surroundings before entering into the church. The candle lit service was full of a real sense of love and emotion, as you can see from the images. Then after a rose petal confetti moment, we were off to the stunning reception venue. Osbourne House is a magnificent English Heritage property. It was firstly owned by Queen Victoria (as her her palatial holiday home) and she is quoted in saying “It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot”. I think I might agree with her! The newly painted wedding suite was so elegant and the staff were beyond helpful. Douglas and his team pulled out all the stops to make it a remarkable and memorable reception.

So without further ado, here are a few images from this lovely summer wedding…
